BALANCEABILITY

What is Balanceability?

Balanceability is the UK's first accredited 'learn to cycle' programme for children.

The programme is a structured course delivered to groups of young children.

Previous work has shown that 94% of children aged 4 to 6 years old are able to safely ride a pedal bike at the end of the programme.

Balanceability combines unique ergonomic balance bikes with a schedule of fun activities that build confidence, spatial awareness and dynamic balance skills enabling young children to cycle without ever needing stabilisers.

What does it cost?

Level 2

Why is learning to cycle important?

Level 1 is aimed at children from 2½ years old. At this level, fundamental movement patterns, gross motor skills and dynamic balance are incorporated along with an introduction to the balance bike.

Children learn how to pick up, manoeuvre, mount and dismount their bikes and how to ride safely.

Level 1 aims to build confidence in the ability to glide on a balance bike and how to stop in a controlled manner.

Cycling for children is fun, healthy and provides children with sense of freedom.

Riding a bicycle provides physical activity that is required to maintain a healthy lifestyle. A child who enjoys riding their bike is more likely to cycle as an adult for transportation, recreation or even become an Olympic athlete !

Nearly half of the UK’s kids are unable to ride a bike by the time they turn six due to the increased pressures of modern lifestyles.

Through a fun and safe introduction to riding a bike, Balanceability aims to 'embed in the psyche' of young children that cycling is a part of life.

Ask your school if they would be interested in Balanceability sessions

Cycle Skills will bring everything to the school  and the cost includes the bikes, helmets and all other required resources

A full day of 5 sessions costs from £125

Individual sessions are £45 each.

Generally sessions are aimed at nursery, reception and infants but if there are juniors who missed out on learning to ride we can target sessions specifically for these older children.

Level 2 continues the development of gross motor skills, dynamic balance and co-ordination.

The main goal is to improve the child's gliding, stopping, braking and turning skills, enabling them to ride solo on a pedal bike safely and with confidence.

Balanceability is a progressive 'outcome based' learning programme where children are assessed at regular points throughout the course in order to monitor and measure progress.

The speed of progression in children's motor development has proved to be hugely beneficial.

Level 1

The Balanceability course is made up of six 45 minute sessions for Level 1 and six 45 minute sessions for Level 2.
